Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC) Supply Chain Advisor Job Vacancy

The Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC), the legal body of the Catholic Bishops of Uganda has won a five year grant that will enable it to manage and integrate HIV/AIDS care, treatment and prevention (ACT Program) into its HIV/AIDS services in Uganda.

The management of the program will be integrated into the systems and processes of the Uganda Catholic Secretariat (UCS) for the purpose of sustainability and continuity.  

The Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB – the Health Department) will be the lead department managing this program which primarily aims at ensuring continuation of support to antiretroviral therapy (ART) program in twelve (12) health facilities within the UCMB
network. 

In order to manage the ACT program, the UEC would now like to fill the following job positions that are still vacant. Other than as specified for each job position, UEC seeks to recruit highly self-motivated candidates that are able to work with the rest of the team at the UCS.

Supply Chain Advisor: (1 Position)

Job Summary:
S/he will be responsible for providing support for drug management processes within the ACT Program, collecting, synthesizing and transmitting data & information related to health supplies utilized by the program. S/ he will also coordinate with Medical Access in order to ensure that there are no ARV stock outs in the HCFs supported by ACT.

Coordinate and manage logistics involved in supply chain management of ARVs, laboratory reagents and drugs for opportunistic infections.

Conduct training of ACT supported HCFs in forecasting drug needs, procurement, tracking inventory and monitoring pharmaceuticals and other health supplies.

Ensure that the ACT logistical information system for management of ARVs, Ol drugs and reagents is harmonized with the national system.

Collect, synthesize and transmit data & information related to ARVs and other related health supplies utilized at the HCF to inform UEC planning.

Develop, strengthen and integrate ARVs supply systems with H8F overall pharmaceutical management systems.

Work with Medical Access to coordinate ARV supplies and replenishments to the ACT supported HCFs.

Develop the capacity of HCF pharmacy teams to forecast and embrace the pull-system.

Requirement:
Qualifications and competencies:

  • A Degree in Pharmacy and post graduate training in procurement and logistics management training, valid registration with the Pharmaceutical association to practice in Uganda.
  • Good understanding of the health systems in Uganda.
  • Have solid working knowledge of ART in Uganda.
  • Five  year experience in managing ART commodities logistics is a must.
  • 2-3 years experience managing a busy ART Pharmacy in a public or health facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge through formal and informal training.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent written, oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs – Access, Excel. Word and Power Point).
  • An effective communicator with good interpersonal relations

Salary: USD/month
