Equity Bank has 7 Board committees that guide and govern its management. The committees include Audit, Credit, Risk Management, Strategy and Investment, Tendering and procurement, Governance, Board nomination and Staff remuneration and Board executive. All Board members are vetted before appointment. Board appointments take into account professional qualifications, integrity and track record.

Relationship Managers 
To contribute to the growth in the bank's asset and liability portfolio as per the set targets and maximize revenue generation through delivery of fast truck product structuring and appraisal process that will ensure timely delivery of well structured products to customers. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Source and process sound business and encourage potential prospects to open up operating accounts so as to contribute to the targeted growth in the balance sheet and profit and toss. 
  • Ensure that both potential credit prospects and existing customers are dealt with efficiently so as to maximize revenue and ensure quality in the bank's service delivery. 
  • Build relationships with customers, in order to attract referrals to ensure repeat business and loyally. 
  • Manage the portfolio efficiency in liaison with the credit Division to avoid/ minimize provision for non-performing Assets. 
  • Analyze and monitor the portfolio so as to further structure appropriate products for the customer. 
  • Prepare timely reports. 
  • Attend credit Committee meetings .at the designated branches. 
  • Identify, mentor and coordinate the activities of Relationship officers and Marketing Officers. 
  • Any other duties assigned by Management from time to time

Job requirement
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • A university degree preferably in commerce, Economics or Business Administration. 
  • Part or full professional qualification in Accounting (ACCA/CPA), marketing (C1M), MBA, or equivalent is an added advantage, 
  • Candidates, who do not hold such qualifications but have at least three years experience in credit or branch operations and have demonstrated the above skills and experience in a similar position, are considered on an exception basis. 
  • Technical ability to read & interpret Financial statements presented for Credit assessments 
  • Creativity and innovation 
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision 
  • Good presentation, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills 
  • Ability to work under pressure and achieve results 
  • People skills 
  • Knowledge of credit risk analysis 
  • Proficiency in Excel" 
  • All round product knowledge in banking 
  • Excellent interpersonal and team work skills 

Candidate's Profile and Qualifications: 

  • Holder of University degree from a recognized University 
  • 3 years experience in a relationship management preferably in banking sector 
  • Holders of CPA and ACCA or other relevant professional qualification will have an added advantage

Equity won the award in a category contested by Accion of Nigeria, Blue Financial Services of South Africa and UBA Nigeria.

Equity Bank was named the Micro Finance Bank of the Year in Africa “for assisting local communities and aspiring entrepreneurs to raise finance, ultimately contributing to their growth and development. 

While receiving the award, Equity Bank Director for Operations and customer service, Gerald Warui noted that the award demonstrates the resilience of the microfinance sector in Africa in reducing poverty and accelerate the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals.
